Biography
Neal Warner is a versatile music educator with over fifteen years of professional teaching experience across a comprehensive range of learning environments. Neal has built a reputation for his engaging and ambitious teaching approach, driven by his passion and curiosity for music.
Neal’s instruction is rooted in an extensive background in both contemporary and classical styles, allowing him to offer a unique approach to learning that blends informal and accessible language with higher-level, academic concepts. Whether working with beginner students just starting their musical journey or advanced students refining their technique, Neal’s dynamic teaching philosophy ensures that every student experiences personalized lessons that are specifically designed to match their musical goals.
As a child, Neal studied with renowned Detroit-area jazz bassist Dan Pliskow. He continued his formal education at the Berklee College of Music, where his studies expanded into music composition and audio production. In 2016, Neal completed a Master of Music degree at Wayne State University with an emphasis on music composition and theory. He is currently a candidate for a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Arizona.
In addition to teaching, Neal has enjoyed career highlights as a composer, music researcher, and musical theatre performer and director. Outside of music, Neal spends his time watching his favorite Michigan-based sports teams, playing retro video games, and putting his knowledge to the test at pub trivia.
